What is Veterans supportive housing?

In November of 2023, the Town of Oak Bluffs awarded the Island Housing Trust and the Cape and Islands Veterans Outreach Center the opportunity to construct year-round, affordable housing for veterans on a 3.4-acre parcel of town-owned land at 50 Bellevue Avenue. The neighborhood will have 12 permanently affordable one-bedroom rental homes and a community room for meetings and recreation, housed within three 2-story buildings. The Cape and Islands Veterans Outreach Center will provide ongoing customized, wraparound supportive services to each resident. Each of the homes will be permanently affordable for year-round veteran residents earning up to 80% of the area median income for Dukes County. Our team is also seeking rental support vouchers to increase the affordability of each of the twelve homes.

What will it look like?
